The CEP equity team believes that:
- Fundamentals drive stock prices. Their research efforts focus on identifying factors that are indicative of future out-performance.
- Positive risk factors taken in a measured manner can lead to out-performance. They focus on maximizing exposure to positive risk and limit exposure to unrewarded risk that can lead to volatility.
- A systematic approach enables consistent evaluation of a large universe of stocks. They employ a multi-factor quantitative model to evaluate a universe of over 3000 stocks on a daily basis.
- An experienced portfolio team can mitigate some stock specific risks. They have a dedicated team of industry-focused portfolio managers and analysts who provide a qualitative overlay to the quantitative model.
The CEP fixed income team believes that:
- Yields win over time – excess returns are available in the high quality non-treasury sectors and they uncover them through careful security selection.
- The bond market is irrational at times. This creates the opportunity for the team to add value by utilizing their research capabilities to make sound sector and security selection decisions.
- Risk control is the essence of bond management. They utilize a structured investment process and disciplined decision making to avoid interest rate timing, minimize downside risk, and generate consistent performance results over time.
