With offices in Greenville, Delaware and Jackson, Wyoming, Friess Associates was founded in 1974. The firm manages the Brandywine family of mutual funds and separate portfolios for institutions and high-net-worth individuals. Rather than aiming to be all things to all investors, Friess Associates exclusively focuses on growth-equity investing. All Friess portfolios follow the same time-tested investment strategy emphasizing the earnings power of individual companies. Affiliated Managers Group (NYSE:AMG) acquired a majority interest in the firm in 2001 in a transaction that kept more than 30 percent of firm equity in the hands of employee owners.
Bill D’Alonzo oversees seven research teams. More than two dozen Friess employees focus solely on research. To maintain a nimble nature, each team is headed by a Research Team Leader who is responsible for a portion of the overall assets in the Brandywine Funds. Researchers generally follow no more than 10 to 15 companies at a time and perform eight to 10 research interviews each day. The firm conducts as many as 1,000 interviews each week.Portfolio Managers
  Bill D’Alonzo
Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer
Bill D’Alonzo has 26 years experience, including 24 years with Friess Associates. Bill serves as President, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer of Friess Associates. He is also President and Chairman of the Brandywine Funds. Dubbed the “Growth Guru” in the March 2004 issue of Money magazine, Bill presides over the entire Friess research effort.
Bill began his career in the trust department of PNC Bank, formerly the Bank of Delaware, after earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Widener University. Bill also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Widener. He is very active in the local community, serving on the boards of Delaware Wild Lands and the Delaware Community Foundation.
